At Odell Craft Barbecue, we know what it takes to make food so good you’ll ask for seconds. Inspired by a love for the great outdoors and artisanal, old-world cooking, our meats are smoked over a live fire in the heart of Redding, California. Probably the best meat I’ve ever had


The Odell brothers just cooked for our men’s retreat this past weekend. WOW. Probably the best meat I’ve ever had. If you haven’t had their slow cooked smoked brisket or short ribs … you don’t know what meat can be like. Nay, you don’t know what FOOD can be like. If you have the chance to try it, I highly recommend that you do!

No need for sauce. Tender. Full of flavor.


As a native of South Carolina, then a transplant to Kansas City, I consider myself to have a decent palette. This barbecue was some of the best I’ve ever had… it needed nothing. No need for sauce. Tender. Full of flavor. Fell apart in my mouth. I literally cut the brisket with a spoon.

I’m still craving more!


Jason and his talented crew catered our wedding a few weeks ago, and I’m still craving more!! They were incredibly generous and very professional, and so enjoyable to work with. Our guests loved the food, and so did we!! I would hire them for any event, time and time again!!

OMG, this place has the best brisket I ever had, randomly found this place when I was on vacation in Redding, as a huge meat lover, I could eat their brisket 1bl easily, better be there early after 2 pm you may only get chicken. Amazing, amazing, amazing!

Great barbecue and friendly service. As someone who grew up in the south, I always heard that a barbecue place without cornbread and banana pudding was unlikely to be good barbecue, but that was not the case with Odell. The pulled pork sandwich and potato salad were both fantastic. Great sauce. Will definitely come back when I’m in Redding again.

MEET OUR PIT MASTER.

Born and raised in Northern California, Jason Odell knows what it takes to make world-class barbecue. From Texas and Kansas City, he’s travelled around the country in pursuit of age-old secrets and homegrown methods for preparing legendary meats. For over a decade, he’s experimented with old-world cooking techniques and designed his own custom equipment to smoke beef, pork and chicken to fall-off-the-bone perfection. What drives his crazy pursuit of excellence, you might ask?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Where are your smokers located?

    Follow the smells. Our custom-built smokers are located behind the restaurant on Market Street in downtown Redding, California. 

  • What’s your minimum for catering?

    Our catering services are best suited for events of at least 30 people. We’ve hosted events up to 800 people and regularly cater weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, ranch-style dinners and more. If you are interested in providing food for a group smaller than 30, consider our in-store pick up option or get in touch.

  • What is your barbecue style?

    We like to say that we cook Texas-style barbecue with California-inspired craftsmanship. All of our meats are prepared in a custom-built smoker over a live fire that we keep running through the night.

  • Do you offer free samples?

    Stop in on Thursday and Friday for a sample at our downtown Redding location and we’ll almost guarantee that you’ll stick around for lunch.
